Obituary

Marie Christina Springsguth, 92, of Bellevue, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Bellevue Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska.
Marie was born on December 18, 1918 on the family farm near Chapman to Henry and Eliza (Kuhl) Boersen. After completing her education, she married Oscar Springsguth on September 8, 1934. They made their home in Grand Island. Mr. Springsguth preceded her in death on March 15, 1976.
Mrs. Springsguth was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, traveling, and spending time with her children and their families. Due to ill health, Mrs. Springsguth moved to Bellevue, Nebraska in 1999 and resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ken Brunsvold.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors of the immediate family include six daughters and five sons-in-law, Lucille Becker of San Bernardino, CA, Donna and Don Crosby of Lincoln, Betty and Kenneth Brunsvold of Bellevue, Joanne and Joe Homolka of Lacy, WA, Darlene and Craig Schoneberg of Grand Island, and Bonnie and Mike Carney of Bellevue;  two sons and a daughter-in-law, Oscar Jr. and Mickey Springsguth of Riverside, CA and Terry Springsguth of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Also left to cherish her memory are two brothers, Earl Boersen and William Boersen both of Grand Island and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, Leonard, two brothers, Max and Louie Boersen, a sister, Minnie Meinke, and a son-in-law, Ronald Becker.
