Mark A. Hugh, 46, of Cairo, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Hugh was born on June 26, 1965 in Grand Island to Donald "Dean" and Diane (Fritz) Hugh. He grew up and received his education in Grand Island. Mark loved sports and participated in football, basketball and track in junior high and high school. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1983.
He began working for his dad at Hugh's Building Specialty as a teenager and continued until his dad retired last year. He recently began working for Wolf's Drywall.
Mark was a very generous and giving person, who always looked out for others. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Huskers, and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed snow skiing, golfing and reading the bible. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and always looked forward to the holidays.
Survivors of the immediate family include his parents, Dean and Diane Hugh of Grand Island, a sister, Michele and her husband Scott Ulmer of Grafton, NE, two nephews, Brandon and Brady Ulmer, and a niece, Bailey Ulmer.
He is also survived by five aunts, Terry (Dean) Poppe of Juniata, NE, Lynn Buckley and Ron Barry of Grand Island, Rosie Chrystal of Grand Island, Bonnie (Don) Graff of Grand Island, and Margie (Wayne) Clark of Alliance, NE, cousins Kimn and Gregg Peterson, Rich and Donna Strehle, Tyler and Mecala Poppe, Mick Poppe, Lee, Joel, Megan and Gwen Fritz, Josh and Jordan Peterson, Paige and Brock Strehle, Teri and Tim Staub, Lonnie Musil, Cindy and Mike Jarosz, Larry and Wendy Graff, Don and Keri Graff, Carol and Jim O'Brien, Lori and Marvin Larabee, Rick and Mickey Clark, Vicky and Leonard Kippes, Monica and Tom Dorame, and several other paternal cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Basil and Maxine Fritz, and Myron and Mammie Pugh, an uncle Tom Buckley and numerous aunts and uncles.
