Marylin Marie Lif, 84, of Grand Island, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Edgewood Vista in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Reverend Matt Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Edgewood Vista Aviary Fund.
Mrs. Lif was born on July 18, 1930 in Alliance, Nebraska to John H. and Ruby I. (Schutt) Ellis. Marylin grew up and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949.
She was united in marriage to Maynard A. Lif on October 8, 1950 in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she worked at the Capitol, Grand and Drive In Theatres before becoming a full time homemaker.
Marylin was an active member of the Methodist church for over 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the VAIR program at Newell and Howard Elementary Schools, as well as the PTA. She was a past local and state president of the United Commercial Travelers of America. Marylin enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery and other crafts. She also loved birds and enjoyed her collection of pet birds. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Lif and Carrie Beacom and her husband Cliff, all of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Lif and his wife Barbara of St. Libory and Dean Lif and his wife Ann of Lincoln; three sisters, LaVonne Hansen, Karen Alcorn and Beverly Darnall; and a brother, John Ellis.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Susanne (Joshua) Cramer, Andrew Beckstrom, Erik (Selmira) Beckstrom, Kayla Beckstrom, Adam Lif and Christopher Lif; three step grandchildren, Alicia, Aaron and Allison Beacom; and one great granddaughter, Lyla Cramer.
Marylin was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; her parents; a son, David L. Lif; a brother, Dewayne Ellis; and a sister, Linda Eilts.
