Obituary

Maynard Albert Lif, 82, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Charles Gregory and Chaplain Tim Wegenast will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Theatre.
Mr. Lif was born on October 8, 1931 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to Albert C. and Hazel V. (McNeal) Lif. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949.
Maynard was united in marriage to Marylin Marie Ellis on October 8, 1950 in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he for the Grand, Capitol and Drive In Theatres. He later worked in retail business. In 1965 he went to work at the Bosselman Truck Plaza as the office manager. He retired in 2002 after 37 years.
Mr. Lif served for 9 years in the Nebraska National Guard as a Sergeant First Class.
He was an active member of the Methodist church for over 60 years and was active in Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master of Troop 116. He was a member of the American Legion and was also the past local and state President of the United Commercial Travelers of America.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Marylin Marie of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Lif and Carrie Beacom and her husband Cliff, all of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Lif and his wife Barbara of St. Libory and Dean Lif and his wife Ann of Lincoln; two brothers, Harold Lif of Arvada, CO and Donald Lif of Lexington; and one sister, Alberta Wrage of Fremont.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Susanne (Joshua) Cramer, Andrew Beckstrom, Erik (Selmira) Beckstrom, Kayla Beckstrom, Adam Lif and Christopher Lif; three step grandchildren, Alicia, Aaron and Allison Beacom; and one great granddaughter, Lyla Cramer.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, David L. Lif.
