Michael Philip Haines, 58, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will be in the Wiegert Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Haines was born Feb. 24, 1952, in Denver, Colorado to Jesse and Clara (Henry) Haines.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Lenetta of Grand Island, 2 daughters, Elaine (SFC Carl) Johnson of Washington state, and Theresa (Michael) Leschinsky of Grand Island; 2 Sons, David (Christina) Haines & Jesse (Charlie) Haines all of Grand Island.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Trista & Dominic Johnson, Michael Jr. & Breanna Leschinsky, Joseph, Matthew & Jonathan Haines and Bryan Haines.
He grew up in Denver and graduated from South High School in 1971.
He was united in marriage to Lenetta Ohlert on July 23, 1971 in Denver Colorado.
He entered the U.S. Navy on July 18, 1972. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 6, 1973.
The couple lived in Salt Lake City, and then lived on the coast until after his discharge from the service. They then moved to Cambridge, later moving back to Denver and then returning to Nebraska.
Michael loved to collect trains and was active in church. His greatest love was taking care of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and 1 grandson, baby Jesse Haines.
