Obituary

Nancy Hardenberger, 47, of Cairo, Nebraska died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at her home. A celebration of life gathering will be held 5:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Cairo Community Center. You are requested to wear casual attire. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Nancy was born July 14, 1965 in Ainsworth, NE to Dick and Louise (Newland) Osburn. She grew up in Cairo and graduated from Centura High School in 1983. In 2000, she started working at St. Francis Medical Center and worked as the production manager at Health Care Laundry Services until her illness.

She married David Hardenberger on June 2, 2001 in Cairo, NE. After their marriage, they lived in Cairo.

Nancy was a very giving person and loved to bake. She was famous for her brownies, which are made with a secret recipe known only to a very select few. She was an active Girl Scout leader of troop #365 and always helped with the Breakfast with Santa. She also enjoyed crocheting and karaoke. But most of all she loved spending time with family and friends and hosting parties; especially Halloween and New Year's.

Survivors include her husband, David; daughters, Tara (Logan) Eastman of Giltner, NE, Shannon Hardenberger of Cairo, NE, Emily Nielsen of Crete, NE, Annie Nielsen of Cairo, NE; grandchildren, Jaxstin Dienes, Paiten Hardenberger, Braiden and Elijah Eastman; father, Dick (Letha) Osburn of Cairo; brothers, Allan Wade (Amy) Osburn, Randy Osburn, Chad (Jodi) Osburn, Bret (Christy) Osburn all of Cairo; several cherished nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs, Bruiser and Baxter.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Louise in 1997.


A celebration of life gathering will be held 5:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Cairo Community Center. You are requested to wear casual attire. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
