Obituary

Neva E. Brabander, 91, of Grand Island, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Grand Island. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Pastor Bill Pavuk will be officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Foundation or the Lutheran Hour.

Neva was born October 28, 1925 to Albert and Emma (Niedfelt) Moeller. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Grand Island. She attended District 23 Meadow Brook School.
On November 6, 1949, she married Charles Moss at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. They made their on a farm southwest of the city. She worked alongside of her husband on the farm. They were blessed with one son, James Allen. She was later united in marriage to Walter Brabander on August 13, 1977.

She worked at the 911 call center, Hesteds, Miller and Paine, Wheelers, and Holcomb Hatchery. Neva was active in the church and community. She was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Islander Extension Club and played a large part in getting Northwest High School built. Neva enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing, cooking and baking and won many ribbons at the county fair.

Those left to cherish her memory include: brother: Albert D. (Maureen) Moeller of Grand Island; sister: Joyce Dose of Hampton; brother-in-law: Kenneth Ziegelbein; stepson: David Brabander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands: Charles and Walter; son: James Allen, sisters: Shirley Ziegelbein and Erma Jean.
