Ordella H. (Schinkel) Ruff, 92, of Grand Island died Monday, July 6, 2015 at Tiffany Square Nursing Center in Grand Island.

She was born on May 10, 1923 on the family homestead in Merrick County to Ernest and Julia (Steinbeck) Schinkel. Ordella grew up in the Grand Island area, and graduated from Trinity Lutheran School and Grand Island Senior High School. Following graduation, she was a secretary for Grand Island Public Schools.

On October 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lawrence C.J. Ruff at Trinity Lutheran Church. After which the couple lived in Grand Island and she became a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity LWML formerly known as Ruth Society at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ordella is survived by 3 daughters: Barbara Pecoraro of Gallup, NM, Alane Hammond of Grand Island, Cara Hammond of Morrisville, NC; grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Andrew (Lyndsey) Pecoraro, Christina (Jody) Imus, Jennifer Hammond, Derek Hammond; and great grandson: Eric Pecoraro.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence; and sister: Delphine Schinkel.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island with Rev. Luke Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour.
