Obituary

Patrick M. Ray, 61, of Dannebrog passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at home surrounded by family, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Memorial Services will be 1:00PM, Tuesday 21st at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jay Towell officiating.

Patrick Michael Ray was born June 13, 1957 in Lincoln to Calvin and Betty (Porterfield) Ray where he was raised until the third grade when they moved to Unadilla. He was baptized in April 1968 at the Methodist Church. The family moved to the Sterling area prior to his sophomore year they moved to Shelby where he graduated in 1975. He continued his education after high school, receiving his bachelor's degree.

He joined the Army in 1975 and served in Germany, while serving he received medals for Good Conduct, Expert .45 Caliber Pistol, and Sharp Shooter M16. He was honorably discharged in 1980. Upon returning from the service, he drove some semi trucking for his father. He was also a Federal meat grader in KS and CO and later on was self-employed as an insurance salesman for many years.

Pat married Gail Ury on September 11, 1982, to this union two boys were born: Joshua and Zachary they raised their family in Ulysses, Kansas.

Pat is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Joshua and Valerie Ray of Pampa TX and Zachary and Danae Ray of Kismet, KS, grandsons; Slade, Chaz, Hays and Cade Smith; four siblings and spouses; his uncle Roger and aunt Fidelia Ray and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, half-sister Elizabeth Brown and niece Teri Lynn Horton.
