Paul was born on September 25, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois, to Reverend August Mommens and Loraine Mommens. As the son of a pastor and one of eleven siblings, faith and service were central parts of Paul's life from an early age.

Paul dedicated much of his life to serving the Lord and worked as a Director of Christian Education (DCE), sharing his faith and guidance with many throughout the years. His deep commitment to his faith and community reflected the values he was raised with.

Paul was a devoted family man and the father of five children. Outside of ministry and family life, he had a passion for horseshoe pitching, becoming a dedicated competitor and winning his division in the World Horseshoe Tournament in 2010 and again in 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Mommens, and his children:

Tom (Denise) Mommens; Tanya (Rev. Mark) Schlamann; Helena Mommens of California;

Chris Mommens of California; Mischell (Wes) Hill of Kilgore, Nebraska;

Kim (Joel) Minge of Raymond, Nebraska; David (Laray) Rayment of Mitchell, South Dakota;

Timothy Mommens of Melrose, Minnesota; Susan Rieken of Firestone, Colorado;

Mary Swanson of Leavenworth, Kansas; Lois (Paul) Koehler of Omaha, Nebraska;

Ruth (Glenn) Rademacher of Omaha, Nebraska; Eunice Mommens of Pocatello, Idaho;

Naomi (Eric) Franzen of Weston, Missouri;

Esther (Joel) Cloeter of Omaha, Nebraska, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Reverend August Mommens; his mother, Loraine Mommens; his first wife, Madonna Mommens; and his son, Tim.

Paul will be remembered for his strong faith, lifelong service to the Lord, dedication to family, and the joy he found in both ministry and horseshoe competition.

Paul's faith was the foundation of his life, and his legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
