Peggy Ann Mealing, 66 of Minden, passed away Monday July 8, 2018 at Grand Island Veterans Affairs Hospital.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Oberbeck offiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial of ashes will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery following the service.

Peggy was born October 22, 1951 to Robert and Margaret (Reily) Carpenter at San Diego, CA. She was raised in San Diego and graduated from Hoover High School. She entered the United States Air Force in June of 1970 and was Honorably Discharged in March of 1974. She was stationed at March Air Force Base.

She married Charles Mealing in January of 1972 while stationed at Riverside, CA. To this union 1 child was born: Charles Mealing II.Peggy moved to Grand Island in March of 1987 where she worked various jobs in the area.

She loved crafts, calligraphy, painting, reading, traveling and especially her pets Sugar and Spice and her current cat, Darlin.

Peggy was a member of the American Legion.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and his wife, Charles and Ashley Mealing of Minden; her sister and her husband, Naomi and Albert Schipman of St. Libory; four grandchildren, Elivia, Lucas, Justin and Echo Mealing; brother-in-law, William Taylor of Hampton, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Pamala Taylor; and two brothers, Bruce and David Carpenter.
