Raymond Carrig, Sr., of Grand Island, Nebraska died November 17, 2010 at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
A memorial service will be at 11 am Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home Alzheimer Unit.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Ray was born on October 28, 1927 in Platte Center and had 11 siblings. He lived there until he entered the Navy at age 17. He was in the Navy for 20 years and retired in 1967 to work in the optical business in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he lived until he retired.
Ray married Anna Mae Barnes on June 18, 1950. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together.
Ray is survived by his 4 children; Becky Prather, Dave Carrig, Robin Howerton and Laurie Lacker, as well as six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the Carrig clan throughout Nebraska and the rest of the United States.
