Obituary

Larry F. Bosak, 63 of Grand Island Ne peacefully died at home surrounded by his family. Larry fought a courageous battle with lung cancer for 6 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Cathedral Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will be the celebrant with The Rev. James Golka concelebrating. Full Military Honors will be performed following the service. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery at later date. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM with a Parish Rosary following at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Larry was born February 26, 1954 in Fullerton, Ne to Ed and Mary (Downing) Bosak. Larry grew up in Fullerton and attended St. Peter Catholic School Fullerton, Ne, St. John Seminary–Elkhorn, NE and graduated in Fullerton High 1972.

Larry married his love of his life Barbara Kosinski in August 17, 1974 at St. Mary's Cathedral. This union was blessed with two daughters, Samantha and Amanda.

Larry joined the United States Air Force in 1972. Larry was station: Offutt AFB, Tyndale AFB Fl, Osan Korea, Peterson AFB, Co. Mildenhall AFB, England and Eglin AFB Fl. Retired from the AF of 22 years in 1995 with the rank of Master Sgt. Also, Larry was in Special Ops and lived in many other parts of the world during many conflicts.

In 1995 the family moved back to Nebraska where Larry started his second career with Pella Windows. Larry was the Operation Manager for Heartland Pella of Nebraska until his death.

Larry loved working with restoring wood projects, working in the yard and dancing to a good polka. Larry was well known by many for being outside with no shoes on and a beer in his hand. There was always a cool one waiting for anyone who stopped by for a visit.

Larry was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and Knights of Columbus. He was not afraid at the end, because he was so strong in his faith.

Larry is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Samantha (Louis) Borges, grandchildren, Emily and Hunter Borges; brother, Mike Bosak, Fullerton, Ne; sisters, Kathy (Leonard) Dubas, Grand Island, Ne, Kris Nave, Arizona; sister in law, Janice Bosak, Fullerton, Ne; brother in law, Richard and Maryann Kosinski; sister in law, Virginia Boswell, Grand Island; many nieces, nephew and cousins; and his very special dog, Annie.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Amanda Bosak; parents Ed and Mary Bosak; brothers, Pat, David, Danny Bosak; sister in laws, Cherole Bosak and Leona Miller; mother and father in law, Frank and Dorothy Kosinski; brother in laws, Dutch Boswell, John Miller; and nephew Richard Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family, which will be divided among Amanda Jo Bosak Scholarship at UNK, Cancer Research and other charitable organizations.
