Bob was a deeply loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved life and wanted to talk and get to know everyone he met, always with a smile and a chuckle.

He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. In later life, he was active in the military veterans' community. Under the GI Bill, he earned a bachelor's degree in Business from Hastings College, where he met Shirley Gustafson of Holdrege, his beloved wife of almost 50 years, who passed away in 2001.

On Valentine's Day in 2009, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene McWhirter. They had a special love, centered on faith, and finding joy together each day. Together, they served as unofficial welcome ambassadors at Tabitha Prairie Commons.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Ron & Victorine Hinrichs, Lucinda Hinrichs, Marijo & Jim Myers; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Hinrichs. He is also survived by the many family members of Darlene McWhirter's loving family.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and son, Rob, in 2023.
