Robert L. Cassell, 69, of Grand Island passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at home with family by his side after a lengthy illness. He is admired by his family for his strong will to live.
Bob's wishes were to not have services as he wanted everyone to remember him in life when he was happy and healthy.
He was born in Omaha, NE to Leonard and Constance (Rachwalik) Cassell on January 19, 1950. Bob attended school in Grand Island at Blessed Sacrament and Central Catholic High School.
Bob married the love of his life, Cheryl Frisby on September 20, 1974 in Las Vegas. They spent time in various places before making their permanent home in Grand Island.
He founded Bob's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning in 1989 after gaining his experience working in the industry in Colorado. Bob cared deeply for all of his customers. Throughout the years, many customers became close friends. Bob retired in 2010 due to illness. He passed his business and expertise on to his daughter Mandi and her husband Bill in 2018 to carry on his legacy.
He enjoyed fishing, mechanical work, tinkering on projects and reading books. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring a 1969 Chevelle Malibu with his son, Myron.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl; daughters, Robin (Adam) Ebel of Omaha, Ginger (Tony) Wallace of Oklahoma City, Mandi (Bill) Barnett and Tammy Cassell, both of Grand Island; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Vera Kirkpatrick, Rita (Clyde) Haskins both of Omaha; brother, Jimmy Monohon of Omaha; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
