Robert "Bob" Pape, 94, of Grand Island, Nebraska passed away January 6, 2024 at Bickford Cottage in Grand Island.
**FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED TO JANUARY 19, 2024**
Livingston – Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with a rosary held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Chapel in Grand Island. The Reverend Tom Ryan will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
Bob was born May 4, 1929 at Petersburg, Nebraska to Juel & Helen (Welsch) Pape. He grew up in Petersburg; attending school and graduated from Petersburg High School.
He worked as a cafeteria worker in Omaha and helped his father deliver milk. He moved to Grand Island and worked at St. Francis Medical as an Orthopedic Orderly. While working at St. Francis Medical, he met his wife, Dorothy Ann Carkoski. The couple was united marriage on November 6, 1976 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island.
Bob and Dorothy Ann were lifetime members of St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island and served as eucharistic ministers in the church. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed tinkering around the house to keep busy, watching TV and Westerns. He loved his dog and animals. And would never pass up a cheeseburger and a coke!
Bob is survived by several nieces and nephews, John & Angela Cochnar of Turnersville, NJ; Joe & Cathy Cochnar of Grand Island; Kathy Cochnar and Connie Cochnar of Grand Island; Ann & Alan Kahle of Minden; Cindy & John Taylor of Casa Grande, AZ; David Carkoski of Loup City; Phillip & Missy Carkoski of Loup City, Gerald & Sue Carkoski of Grand Island; Rose & Bill Stobbe of Grand Island; Linda & Tim Pawloski of Farwell; Virginia & Troy Hobbs of Grand Island; many great nieces & nephews and several great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy Ann, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerome & Mary Carkoski and James F. & Anna Mae Cochnar; two nephews, James M. Cochnar and Jerome Cochnar; and one niece, Theresa Carkoski.
