Robert G. Schoenstein, 78, of Grand Island, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center.

There will be a private family services at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

He was born on March 31, 1939 at Grand Island, NE to Albert and Erline (Steinmeyer) Schoenstein. He grew up and made his home in Grand Island. He entered the United States Navy on April 14, 1959 and was Honorably Discharged on April 12, 1963. He was united in marriage to Sandra Schleichhardt on June 27, 1985 at Grand Island.

Robert loved his family, especially his grandbabies. He also enjoyed music, football, fishing, working on his and Sandy's home and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Grand Island; daughters and their husbands, Athena Nielsen and Amy Lautenschlager; sons and their wives, Rick Lane and Chad Lane; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brothers, Bill and Tom Schoenstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Carol Barg.
