Obituary

Robert E. Woznick, 97, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Tiffany Square Care Center. Private family inurnment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Bob was born January 23, 1915 in Loup City, Nebraska to Walter S. & Katherine (Dietz) Woznick.  He attended Loup City schools, graduating with the class of 1933.  He married Alice Maciejewski on August 17th, 1941 in Loup City.
In September 1942 he enlisted in the Army Signal Corps and spent 1943 as a radio instructor at Camp Kohler in California.  He served Army 3119th Signal Service Battalion in the South Pacific for nearly 2 years in Penrhyn, Luzon, and Kobe, Japan.  Bob was honorably discharged in February 1946 at the rank of Technical Sergeant.
In 1947 he started employment at Northwestern Bell in Grand Island and retired from there in 1979.
At a young age, he became interested in radio electronics and had Loup City's first FCC licensed Ham radio Station, W9JPN (later renamed WØJPN) in the early 1930's.  He was active in amateur radio for over 75 years.   Additionally, he was a carpenter and loved to work and create in his home shop.
Bob is survived by his daughter Susan Kay Judge of Doniphan and grandson Shane J. Judge & Kerstin Dahlström of Stockholm, Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice in December 1961, mother Katherine in 1966, brother-in-law and sister Vern & Betty (Woznick) Maciejewski in 1976, father Walter in 1979, son-in-law Dennis F. Judge in 1987, and brother Richard I. Woznick in 2001.
