Roberta (Bert) R. Behring, 82, of Grand Island died Monday, June 20, 2011 at Wedgewood Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5-7 pm.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Behring was born on June 3, 1929 in Grand Island to Ernest and Julia (Hatcher) Rogan. She grew up and received her education in Grand Island.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Behring on February 27, 1951 in Grand Island. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Grand Island.
Bert enjoyed drawing cartoons, gardening, embroidering tea towels, baking cookies and candies, and loved her dogs and cats. While living in Washington state she enjoyed helping her friend Gerry raising goats. One of Bert's greatest joys was decorating for the Christmas season.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy and husband Al Gosda of Grand Island, two grandsons; Rick and wife Heather Gosda of Grand Island, and Ted Gosda of Grand Island, a great granddaughter Maddie Gosda, a sister LaVonne Burke of Wood River, and a brother Tom and wife Mary Rogan of Grand Island.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bert was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, a brother Harry, an infant brother, and two sisters; Elizabeth Rogan and Judith Roy.
