Obituary

Roger Christensen, 67, of Grand Island, died December 12, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Stolley Park Church of Christ. Minister Mike Reeves will officiate. Visitation and viewing will be from 3 -7 PM Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. According to his wishes cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials are suggested to Stolley Park Church of Christ.

Roger was born on November 28, 1949, in St. Paul, NE to Arnold and Marie (Rojewski) Christensen. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1968. He then attended Business School in Grand Island.

He entered the United States Army on August 29, 1969, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving several medals of honor. He was honorably discharged on August 28, 1975. On returning home, Roger started working for the Post Office in Grand Island, and retired after 25 years. He attended the University at Kearney and earned his Bachelor of Science in 1991.

Roger served as a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island for several years. In July of 2011 after months of Bible study, Roger was baptized at the Stolley Park Church of Christ where he was a current active member. He enjoyed Husker football, music, collecting baseball cards, and was an avid reader.

Roger is survived by sisters: Ann (Eldon) Mock of Holbrook, NE, Kristine (Rodney) Dell of Hastings, NE; brother: Terry Christensen of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John (Jack); sister: Kathleen (Kae); and nephew: Scott Mock.
