Obituary

Roger Colburn, 69, of Campbell, died November 23, 2014 at his home in Campbell, NE with family at his side.

Roger was born November 8, 1945 in Grand Island, NE to Fay and Helen (Preissler) Colburn. He was raised on a farm near Giltner and graduated from the Giltner High School in 1964. Roger enlisted in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1967. Roger lived in Colorado for 35 years where he was employed as a truck driver and did home repairs. During that time he married Kathy Lee Tilton. She passed away in 2007. In 2008, Roger met his companion, Nancy Gray. Upon his retirement in 2009, he and Nancy made their home in Campbell.

He enjoyed refinishing antiques and photography. His real passion was steam engines. He and Nancy spent their time together going to auctions, steam engine shows, and remodeling their home in Campbell.

Roger is survived by his loving companion: Nancy Gray of Campbell, NE; sons: Paul (Toni) Colburn of IN, Chris (Heidi) Colburn of CO, Michael (Amy) Colburn of CO; daughters: Julia (Jason) Brockman of Fairbury, NE, Sarah Colburn of CO; 9 grandchildren; brothers: Larry Colburn of Grand Island, Kenneth (Ann) Colburn of Giltner; sisters: Margaret Wermeskerch of Hastings, Elizabeth Most of Giltner, and Teresa (Rodney) White of Giltner.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Fay and Helen; and wife: Kathy.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Giltner, NE with Father Marneni officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Giltner with military honors provided by the Aurora American Legion. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family.
