Ronald J. Socha, of Grand Island passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by family at the age of 70.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday at Resurrection Catholic Church with The Reverend Michael McDermott officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Grand Island City Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be 4-7 PM, Thursday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary beginning at 7 PM.

Ron was born on December 24, 1946 to Joseph and Eva (Prickett) Socha in Cedar Rapids, NE. He lived in the surrounding area and graduated from Primrose High School in 1965. He joined the United States Army in March of 1966. Ron was a door gunner in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Ron moved back to Spalding and married Joan Berberich in June of 1972. The couple moved to Grand Island where he worked as a truck driver for Bosselman Carriers for 36 years. He retired in December of 2015.
He was a member of the American Legion and Resurrection Parrish. Ron enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working in his shop, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Julie (Mike), Janet, Katie (Lynn), Mary, Diane (Tim), and Michelle; daughter-in-law Arin Parella; and 13 grandchildren.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, John, and his parents.
