Rudy Koch, age 89, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Nye Legacy in Fremont, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Reverend Sheri Lodel will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
Rudolph C. Koch was born October 16, 1921, in Eustis, Nebraska, to Christian J. and Karoline (Gutekunst) Koch.
He married Maxine (Kiesel) Koch on May 14, 1943, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. They were always together and enjoyed their family and friends. The couple farmed in Eustis and Lexington. In 1967 they moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where they worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and also custom farmed around Grand Island, eventually retiring in 1995.
Survivors of the immediate family include Jackie (Jack) Huyser of Pahrump, Nevada; Vickie Anderson of Fremont, Nebraska; Dudley Koch of Garden City, Missouri; 2 sisters Esther Brockmeier of Eustis, Nebraska and Elsie Travis of Kearney, Nebraska. Additional survivors include 5 grandchildren; Tonya (Chris) Wolf of Reno, Nevada; Deena Saddler of Lincoln; Chad (Mary) Anderson of Papillion; Carrie (Chris) Kohl of Fremont; and Austin (Renee) Koch of Kansas City, Missouri; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maxine; son-in-law Tom Anderson; daughter-in-law Michaela Koch; grandson Brian Klein; great grandson, Colin Saddler; 2 sisters; Wilma (Albert) White of North Platte, Rose (Bill) Schurr of Eustis. 2 brothers Ernest (Elnora) Koch of Gothenburg; and Lorenz (Elsie) Koch of Farnum. 2 Brothers-in-law Albert Brockmeier and Paul Travis.
