Sharlene Ault, 88, of Grand Island, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the St. Francis Memorial Health Center in Grand Island as the result of cancer. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Riddle officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Sharlene was born in Grand Island, NE on May 22, 1924 to John and Elizabeth (Mohr) Hurley. She attended Grand Island public schools. On September 25, 1943 she married Eldon Ault, Sr. in St. Paul, NE. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she was a homemaker.

She took pride in her family and was a good mother. Sharlene was dedicated to restoring and making clothing for dolls which she donated at Christmas for children in need. She was also active in church and Sunday school for many years. Sharlene had recently reached the goal as a 5 year breast cancer survivor.

Sharlene is survived by her children, Eldon Ault, Jr. (Judy) of Grand Island, NE, Bob Ault of Grand Island, NE, Lisa (Bob) Melgoza of Des Moines, IA; 12 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and sister, Josephine Hagadorn of Grand Island. Thanks and gratitude to her special grandson, Tony Ault, who cared for her over the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon in 1979; son, Reginald Ault, Sr.; grandson, Monte Ault; sister, Betty Bailey; 3 brothers, Clyde Hurley, Robert Hurley, Leroy Hurley; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Ault.
