Sheila Kay Robertson, 72, of Grand Island passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at home.
Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Warriner officiating. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Sheila was born on September 23, 1946 to Donald and Phyllis (Brandenburg) Dexter. She attended Walnut Middle School and Grand Island Senior High.
On September 7, 1965 she married Richard (Dick) Robertson. To this union they had two children, Barbara and Jeff. Dick passed away in February of 1981, Barbara Mendoza passed away in December, 2008, and Jeff Robertson passed away in April 2002. Lee Hauptmeier was her companion for over 27 years until he passed in April of 2010.
Sheila worked at the Grand Island Veterans Home for 23 years.
She loved to read, take her dog Dexter to the park, and visit with friends and family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Tom and Sheryl Dexter of Grand Island; sister, Linda Coons of Ashland; grandchildren, Crystal Robertson and Cletus Stickley of Ogallala, Amanda Henry of Grand Island and Ruben, Barbara, and Marcial Mendoza, all of Lexington; 8 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, Layla and Zane Robertson, Miranda Henry and Kaden Collins, Abriella Mendez, Andrez Mendoza and one more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special companion, Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Robertson; daughter, Barbara Mendoza; son, Jeff Robertson; companion, Lee Hauptmeier; sister, Betty Kucera; and niece, Yolanda Kucera.
