Obituary

Susan Gene O'Nele, 74, passed away on December 20, 2024, in Grand Island, Nebraska, surrounded by love and cherished memories.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church Chapel in Grand Island. Pastor Adam Snoberger will officiate.

Inurnment will be held in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Susan was born on May 11, 1950, the beloved daughter of Louise and Donald Hecht. She was raised in Grand Island, Nebraska alongside her two sisters, Becky Reier and Lynda Buoy.

She was united in marriage to James P. O'Nele. The couple was married for 45 years. He passed away in 2013.

She was a devoted mother to her two sons, James P. O'Nele III and Andrew Gene O'Nele. Susan took immense pride in her family, including James' ex-wife Angie and their daughter, Kayleigh. Andrew's wife Robin and their 3 children Talon, Katelyn and Liam.

Then, she was with her companion Charles Sanders for 9 years. He passed away in 2024.

Known for her hardworking nature as an agent with American Family Insurance agency and her thoughtfulness, Susan had a remarkable talent for giving meaningful gifts that brought joy to those around her. Her generosity and care left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Susan's memory will forever be treasured by her family and all who knew her. May her legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
