Obituary

Sylvia Marie Bohl died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the Central City Care Center in Central City, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the United Congregational Church or the donor's choice.
Sylvia Marie was born on November 30, 1919 in Merrick County, Nebraska to Joseph Columbus and Hattie Jane (Gagle) Fullington. She attended Central City schools, including North Ward grade school, and graduated from Central City High School with the class of 1938.
Sylvia lived in California from 1941 through 1945, where she worked for Robert H. Clark Cosmetics on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. She attended Montebello Beauty College in Montebello, California. She returned to Nebraska 1946.
She married Melvin R. Bohl on May 7, 1949 in the Congregational Church in Omaha. They lived in Grand Island, and Sylvia owned and operated a beauty shop in Wood River until 1957 when they returned to California and lived at Whittier, CA until 1961. She worked at Connie's Beauty Salon in Whittier.
In 1961 Sylvia and Melvin returned to Grand Island where Melvin worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and Sylvia worked as a retail clerk for Bost Pharmacy and Wanek Pharmacy, until she retired in 1982. Mr. Bohl preceded her in death on February 25, 1984.
Mrs. Bohl was a member of the United Congregational Church and the Liederkranz. Sylvia was devoted to her extended family; she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include Bohl family sisters-in-law, Delores Ahlin of Glenn Allen, VA, and Virginia Bohl of Grand Island, and many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Earl Fullington and wife, Marian; Cecil Fullington and his wives, Ann and Jean; and three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Edna Bell and husband Floyd, Inez Erickson and husband, Adrian; and Delia Rice and husband, Earl.
Also preceding her in death were her husband Mel's sibling and their spouses; Edward and Helen Bohl, Dorothy Bohl, Dave and Irene McQuown, Darold Bohl and Paul Ahlin.
Sylvia was grateful to all who remembered her through the years with visits, gifts, calls and cards.
