Laws
Feb 2, 1962 — May 30, 2026
Thomas Scott Laws, known to most as Scott Laws, age 64, earned his wings and took his final ride into heaven on May 30, 2026, in Omaha, NE. with his beloved wife by his side.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2026 at New Life Community Church at 301 West 2nd in Grand Island, NE with Pastor Sean Amen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at The Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to The Family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be directed to www.livson.com. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Scott was born February 2, 1962, in Grand Island, NE. to John and Kay Laws. He was the youngest of three children, growing up alongside his two older sisters, Kimberly and Robin. As the baby of the family, he was mischievous from the start-always playing pranks, dreaming up trouble, and keeping everyone on their toes in a way only he could. As a teenager, Scott chose to serve his country and became a United States Marine. That sense of strength and determination stayed with him throughout his life.
He had a deep love for NASCAR, fast cars, and music-especially Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Guns N Roses and Garth Brooks. He knew music inside and out, from the bands to the musicians to the stories behind every song.
Whether it was the roar of an engine or the sound of a guitar, those passions were part of who he was. He was also a highly skilled mechanic who had a natural talent for understanding how things worked and took great pride in working with his hands.
Scott spent more than 35 years as an over-the-road truck driver, logging over two million miles without a single accident or ticket-a true reflection of his skill, focus, and work ethic. Above all, Scott was a family man.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Kathaline Laws, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. Together, they raised two daughters, Lisa (Trent) Robertson and Jennifer Laws, who loved their dad more than life itself. He was a fun dad and he had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special.
Scott was incredibly intelligent and quick-witted, the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them laughing. He made friends easily and left a lasting impression wherever he went.
He was a proud grandfather to four grandsons-Joseph Shaw, Johnathan Shaw, Tristan Robertson and Tarin Robertson-who carry forward his spirit, humor and love of life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Kay Laws; his sister, Kimberly Koelzer; and his beloved dog Katie.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Kathaline Laws, his junior high school sweetheart. The two fell in love at just 14 years old and were married on October 14, 1983, building a life together that spanned decades. Daughters, Lisa (Trent) Robertson, Jennifer Laws; sister, Robin; four grandsons; and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory with them always.
Scott will be remembered by his humor, his resilience, his deep love for his family, and the unmistakable energy he brought into every room. For a man who loved the open road and the roar of an engine, it feels only right to imagine he's taken one final ride-crossing that last checkered flag, music turned up and finally at peace….just a little ahead of the rest of us.
