Therese M. McHugh, 90, of Grand Island, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital.

A funeral service celebrating Therese’s life will be held at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the church prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Therese was born on September 21, 1935, in Lindsay, Nebraska, to Francis and Elizabeth Connelly. She was one of five children and cherished the bonds she shared with her family throughout her life.

She is survived by her brothers, Bob Connelly of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Joe Connelly of North Glen, Colorado. Therese was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Sprunk of Columbus, Nebraska, and Marianne Bauer of Brighton, Colorado.

Therese was a devoted mother to her children: Susan Hernandez of Bossier City, Louisiana; Tom McHugh and Mike McHugh of Grand Island, Nebraska; and John McHugh of Aurora, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her son, David McHugh.

She was a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren, Shaelyn McHugh of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Theresa Boston of Bossier City, Louisiana.

Therese will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and for the lasting place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of family, memories, and love that will continue through the generations.
