Tom "Jake" Jakubowski, 70
Thomas "Tom Jake" Jakubowski of Grand Island, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.
Services will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Chapel in Grand Island.  The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate.
Visitation will take place at Livingston-Sondermann Chapel on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Jakubowski was born February 12, 1941 in Ashton, NE to Robert and Isabelle (Peters) Jakubowski.
Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters, Jenny and son-in-law Tom Candle of Grand Island, and Vicki of Virginia Beach, VA.  One sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Dick Lonowski, three brothers, Robert Jakubowski, Terry Jakubowski and friend Lyn Bloodgood, Chuck Jakubowski and friend Dorleen Kamper, all of Grand Island.  Additional survivors include 5 grandsons, Jason, Eric, Terry, Scott, and Tyler; 4 grandddaughters, Amber, Gabrielle, Darian, and McKenna; 4 great-grandsons, J.J., Kyle, Jakobe, and Gavin; his very special friend Chris Callahan, and his beloved cat, Tigger.
Mr. Jakubowski was raised and received his education in Ashton.
He married Roberta Shaver on November 3, 1962.  He later married Deb Cox on September 18, 1976.
He moved to Grand Island and began working at the G. I. Independent in 1958, where he continued to work for 50 years until his retirement.
He was an avid Husker fan and loved watching the Yankees and Cubs.  He also enjoyed playing softball, bowling, doing yard work, playing cards, shooting pool, going to the races at Fonner Park, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jerome and infant sister Mary Ellen.
