Vera D. Mach, 70, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.
Memorial services will be at 10 am Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Reverend Mike Reiners will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time Thursday. Burial of ashes will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia, Nebraska at 2 pm Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Mach was born February 20, 1941 in North Loup, Nebraska to Sam and Maxine (Goldfish) Drawbridge. She was raised in North Loup and graduated from North Loup High School in 1959.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Mach on February 21, 1960 in Ord. She worked at the newspaper in Ord until the couple moved to Grand Island in 1976. She then went to work for the Veterans Club and Park Place Nursing Home.
Vera enjoyed spending time with friends at Grandview Apartments, watching Husker football games, putting together puzzles, playing games and doing crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her mother Maxine Zulkoski of Grand Island, a son Russ and his wife Lori Mach of Chapman, a daughter Malisa Danzler, three grandchildren; Amanda Mach of Grand Island, Steven Mach of Sioux City, IA and Brett Blackwell of Sioux City, IA.
She is also survived by a brother Charles and his wife Sarah Drawbridge of Calvert, KY, a sister Mary Ann and her husband Gene White of Grand Island, a sister-in-law Juliana Drawbridge and a dear friend Pete Elonich.
According to Vera's wishes the family has requested those attending the services to wear Husker attire.
