Virginia L. Jones, 81, of Ravenna, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center.
According to her wishes Virginia was cremated and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Virginia was born on July 11, 1933 at Springfield, Nebraska to Lee Roy and Grace Mae (Lefler) Banks. She grew up and received her education in Springfield.
She was united in marriage to Melroy Jones in 1955. Virginia was an extremely hard worker her entire life and a caregiver for all living things. She loved gardening, canning, fishing and caring for all animals, especially her many house pets. Nature and the outdoors were always an important part of her life. Virginia was always willing to put others cares and needs ahead of her own, and her family will always remember her for bearing the weight of the world on her shoulders.
In her younger years Virginia was very active in the Methodist church where she taught Sunday School.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Banks of Alda, Larry Banks and his wife Theresa of Papillion and Alan Jones of Ravenna; two daughters, Debra Altman and her husband Ben of La Vista and Ann Jones of Hazard; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and a sister Irene Jurrens of South Dakota.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael and Richard Jones; and three sisters.
