Virginia Fay Stahlnecker, 89, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at her home with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Scott Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stahlnecker was born on April 24, 1924 at Grand River, Iowa to Asa and Rhoda (Hopkins) Kirkpatrick. She grew up and received her education in Iowa and Giltner, Nebraska. Following school she went on to work at Fairmont Foods where she met Robert Stahlnecker.
Virginia was united in marriage to Robert Stahlnecker on August 17, 1946 in Norton, Kansas. Afterwhich the couple made their home in Grand Island. They first lived at Broadwell Courts, and in 1950 built their home where they raised their family and lived their entire married life. Mr. Stahlnecker preceded her in death in 2006.
She was a past member of the Church of God. Virginia enjoyed working in her garden and was an animal lover. She also enjoyed watching the Food Network and westerns with her dog, Fluffy, by her side. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to their family vacations and camping trips.
Survivors of the immediate family include two sons; Jimmy and wife Judy Stahlnecker of Lowell, AR and Jerry and wife Janice Stahlnecker of Grand Island; two daughters; Sandra and husband Charlie Bramble of Grand Island and Cathy Mae Stahlnecker of Grand Island; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, Raymond Kirkpatrick of Oregon, and two sisters, Leila Hauf of Oregon and Donna Nicholson of Lincoln.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Mae Kirkpatrick, and four brothers, Norris, Pete, Dean and Ira Kirkpatrick.
