Wallace "Wally" Dean Gentry, 66, of Grand Island passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE with his family by his side.
A memorial mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 19th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Reverend Martin Egging officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18th from 5-7 PM with a Vigil Rosary Service beginning at 7 PM at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel.
He was born on March 27, 1953 at Grand Island, NE to Delbert and Ruby (Wallace) Gentry. He grew up in Grand Island.
He enlisted into the Marines at age 17 in September of 1970. After the military Wally became a certified truck driver traveling all over the United States, many of those trips included taking a family member along.
Wally loved fishing, the Packers, his four-legged friends, and especially sharing his stories with friends and family.
He was united in marriage to Monica Ann Jones on July 7, 1977 at Las Vegas, NV. After which they made their home in Grand Island. For their 25th wedding anniversary, the couple renewed their vows at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He is survived by his; sons, Shawn (Beth) Gentry, Pedro (Brandi) Gentry; daughter, Nicole (Michael) Oberst, all of Grand Island; grandchildren, Annelise, Madelin, Charlie, Michael, Simon, Christian, Pedro Jr., Emma, Briannah, and Hannah; sister, Kay Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings; and numerous aunts and uncles.
