Obituary

Walter C. Sons, 93, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Friday, October 19, 2012, at home with his family at his side.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Following the services Mr. Sons will be cremated. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Sons was born March 29, 1919, in Fairfield, Illinois to Walter Clark Sons, Sr. and Mary (Dickey) Sons.
Walter attended Southern Illinois University and entered the U.S. Army in April 1942. He served in the European theater for four years. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving honorably until retiring in October of 1969.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Celia Bernice (Thomsen) Sons. They were married in the parsonage of Kountze in Omaha by Dr. Traub on August 10, 1952.
Survivors of the immediate family also include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Allan and Mariana Sons of Evergreen, Colorado; and a daughter and son-in-law, Helen Louise and Roger Evans Fries of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by two grandsons, Gregory James Adams, from Lewisville, Texas and John Ryan Adams and his wife Amy Adams, and great grandson, Archer Ryan Adams, from Carrollton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, (Mary) Elizabeth Frommel.
