William "Bill" Cleon Clark, 78, of Aurora, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at The Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Interment of cremains will take place at private graveside services at Grange Cemetery in Honey Creek, Iowa. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to be sent to the family.
Mr. Clark was born on May 28, 1936 at Council Bluffs, Iowa to George and Margaret (Jordan) Clark. He joined the United States Air Force on September 27, 1954 serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on April 26, 1958.
Bill married Audrey Dean Williams in 1958 and they lived in various communities while he worked in construction. Eventually the couple settled in Torrington, Wyoming where they raised their children. In 1973 Bill joined the Wyoming Army National Guard and served until he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1994.
They moved to Missouri in 1997 and then to Aurora, Nebraska. In April of 2014 he was moved to the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. Upon retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife to numerous places, including Canada. Bill had many hobbies, such as fishing, reading history, visiting museums, playing cards and darts, listening to music, watching old movies and tinkering on anything from household items to automobiles. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by Audrey, of Aurora, his three daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle Clark of Tucson, Arizona, Pamela Mier of Phoenix, Arizona, and Karen and Rod Havens of Aurora, NE; a son, William Clark Jr. of Ft. Leavenworth, KS; 10 grandchildren: Matthew, Wade, Joshua, Kylee, Jacob, Jenna, Collin, Jarrett, Jayson and Erin; and one great granddaughter, Josilin.
He is also survived by his two sisters and one brother-in-law: Elinor Rasmusen of Naples, Florida, and
Beverly and Glen Driscoll of Omaha, Nebraska; and a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Sharon Clark of Poplar Grove, Illinois.
Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Louise, his parents, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Rasmusen.
