William J. "Bill" Mach, 77, of Grand Island, Nebraska passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 at The Heritage at Sagewood in Grand Island.
A visitation and rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the church. Father Jorge Canela and Father Mark Maresh will concelebrate the service. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Bill was born September 19, 1947 to Charles and Doris (Muff) Mach at Crete, Nebraska. He was raised on a farm surrounded by six siblings and mastering every chore whether he wanted to or not! He was united in marriage to Dianne Bartek on April 22, 1972 at Loma, Nebraska. The couple lived in Blair and eventually settled in Grand Island. Bill worked for the Nebraska State Patrol for 25 years. He also owned his own business as a tax preparer.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and State Trooper Association of Nebraska.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dianne of 52 years; son and daughter-in-law, Jason & Michelle; daughter & son-in-law, Jill & Jose Portillo; one grandson, Gabe; and one granddaughter, Alexa; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim & Crys, Dean & Carolyn, Leslie & Sue, Keith & Mary; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Bob; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lori.
