Obituary

William L. Stahlnecker, 77, of Grand Island, passed away on December 20, 2017 at the Grand Island Veterans Home.A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers.org or Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be directed to www.livson.com.

William was born April 9, 1940 to Daniel H. and Edna M. (Pedersen) Stahlnecker. He grew-up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High School graduating in 1958.

He worked at Skagway in his early years and was drafted into the United States Army in 1963. He served in Korea for 13 months and was Honorably Discharged in 1965. On December 28, 1963 he united in marriage to Amanda Lu Sherrill in Grand Island. To this union, three daughters were born.

After the service, he worked for Wrigley's Gum for two and half years. He then worked as a Sales Representative for CPC International, retiring after over 30 years.

He was a member of Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

William enjoyed golf, fishing, handball, and remodeling his home. He went to coffee almost every morning with his dear friends. He was highly regarded to all that knew him and was known for his kindness and caring for others.

He is survived by his wife, Lu Stahlnecker of Grand Island; his three daughters Debra Thiem of Colorado Springs, Kelli (Andy) Swick of Florida, Joell Blevins of Arizona; 7 grandchildren, Clark, Taylor, Manya, Shayna, Raiselle, Kelsey, and Teagen.

William was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Goettsche; and brother, Richard Stahlnecker.
