Zachery Scott Wagener, 37, of Gothenburg, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, surrounded by his loving family.

Zach continued his giving spirit with being an organ donor. It was his wishes to be cremated and have no funeral service.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Kirk's Nebraskaland Restaurant in Lexington at 4:00 p.m. Soup and sandwiches will be provided. Please join the family of Zach in celebrating his life and memory.

Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Fire and Rescue, Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department or to the family for later designation.

Zach was born the fourth of five children on May 28, 1986 to Phillip and Irma (Wurster) Wagener. He attended Gothenburg Public Schools. Growing up with three older brothers, there was never a dull moment in the house. Zach was doted upon by them all and when a baby sister joined the family, it was Zach's turn to be the doting brother. He loved his family very much, as well as, his German Shepards Boomer and Loki. Zach loved to go fishing along the canal. He enjoyed the art of cooking a good meal and had great experience in front of the grill. Zach was a Husker fan and would join the many Husker football parties with his brothers. Zach was giving in nature and making people happy made him happy.

Survivors include his father, Phillip Wagener of Gothenburg; mother, Irma Wagener of Cozad; three brothers, Curt (Cassie) Wagener of Holdrege, Brad (Christina) Wagener of Lexington, Jeremy (Tana) Wagener of Lincoln; one sister, Kelsi (Jon) Wagener of Omaha; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Zach is preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Viola Wagener, Robert and Ina Wurster; uncles, Robert Wurster Jr. and Dave Wurster; cousins, Jason Vance, Seth Johnson and Blaine Golter.
